  • Mechanical/ Grades 
    AISI 52100 Shaft. This shaft is the standard linear shafting from bearing grade. Steel designed with bearing manufacturers and manufactured to tight tolerances for long bearing life.
    AISI 52100 shaft chrome plated. This shaft is the same as listed above with a thin chrome plating to prevent corrosion.
    AISI 440C shaft stainless steel. This offers high corrosion protection for additional protection. This products is ideal for equipment in the food processing industry

  • General Information 

Standard linear shafting is made from 1060 steel which is case hardened to a surface hardness of Rockwell 60 hardness. This is the best choice for applications which employ linear ball bearings or roller type bearings. This material is manufactured with tight tolerances for long bearing life.
RC60 will oxidize and rust. Thus, lubricated bearings keep RC60 shafting protected. Keep this in mind when using a dry running bearing. This will protect the highly polished bearing surfaces from corrosion and wear, a lubricant is recommended for most applications. Use light oil for good surface adhesion and greater bearing protection.
